Sunscreen Lotion Bars- Easy and Fun!

This is by far one of the easiest bodycare recipes I've ever posted and the end result is super-cute and super-convenient- sunscreen lotion bars!

  • 1/3 cup melted beeswax (make sure it's cosmetic grade)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa butter
  • 1/3 cup coconut oil
  • 3 Tbsp zinc oxide

Melt beeswax in a double boiler. Add cocoa butter and melt, then add coconut oil and stir until melted and combined. Remove from heat and stir in zinc. Try not to inhale the zinc as it can be an irritant if inhaled. If you'd like to add fragrance, add essential oils at this point, but I find the fragrance of the cocoa butter is enough. Stir, stir, stir and then pour into your molds.

I used silicon molds meant for chocolate making, but you can use any flexible mold. Soap molds or even plastic yogurt cups would work well. Just make sure the material is a little flexible so you can pop them out when they've set. I love the idea of molds with patterns for cute gifts!

Let them set and then pop out.

Voila! Cute little portable sunscreen bars. Store them in a little tin and take them with you for a quick and easy sunscreen application when you're on the go and don't want to lug a bottle around with you. Great for trips to the beach or the campground!
