Dehydrating foods and herbs is a simple way to preserve the harvest that retains most of the nutrients. Move over fruit leather and jerky, there's so much more that you can dry! I regularly dry herbs for teas and infusing into oils for skincare. I forage most of my own herbs for teas and tinctures. I dehydrate ferments to turn into spice blends and make super-light camping snacks and meals. Calendula Infusion

One of my favourite gifts to make is Healing Salves and the key ingredient is Calendula infused oil.  Calendula officinalis is an amazing medicinal plant with antiviral, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.  It is an incredible wound-healer and very soothing for dry or inflamed skin.  A must in an eczema cream and gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, even babies.
